The Wyck Hill House Hotel, a four-star hotel set in 100 acres of stunning Cotswolds countryside, has regained its place as one of the area's premier venues.

After reopening earlier this year following a major refurbishment programme, the hotel has been receiving rave reviews from guests and industry professionals alike. The latest assessment of Wyck Hill House by Gloucester-based arts and leisure magazine SoGlos, describes the 18th century manor as 'country house elegance at its best'.

Making reference to the charming building, elegant bedrooms, friendly staff and fine dining, the magazine said: 'The new owners have done a fine job of drawing upon the manor's original charm while creating a relaxed atmosphere.

'From the decadent reception, original library and excellent restaurant to the unique rooms, extensive grounds and talking-point cigar shack, no expense has been spared in re-launching this Stow-on-the-Wold venue as a truly luxurious Gloucestershire retreat.'

The praise follows hot on the heels of a review by The Telegraph which described the hotel as 'a successful hybrid between a traditional country house hotel and modern retreat', giving special mention to the 100-acre tiered gardens and oak-panelled library.

Wyck Hill has also become a favourite with celebrating couples looking for a romantic hotel. Not only can they make the most out of the manor's breathtaking location and gardens, but also spoil themselves with facilities which include a luxurious spa, as well as enjoy local attractions such as the picturesque town of Burford and Cheltenham Racecourse. Wyck Hill House certainly seems to have cemented its place as one of Britain's most luxurious hotels.

'We're delighted at the feedback we have received since reopening the hotel following the refurbishment. A considerable amount of work has been put by all the staff at Wyck Hill House and it is pleasing to see their efforts being recognised, our sole aim is to ensure guests have a relaxing stay in one of the most the most beautiful parts of Britain, while enjoying the highest standards of hospitality in a truly magnificent building.'

Avid travellers and Luxury Villa specialists, the staff from Villa Getaways share their favourite holiday destinations and tips for making luxury travel dreams a reality. Here are some tips on what to pack for your Balinese holiday.

Bali is one of the premier holiday hotspots in the World. Frequented by one-time holiday-goers and repeat visitors, Bali is renowned for its lively nightlife, beautiful beaches, perfect waves, and diverse culture and cuisine. If you haven't travelled to Bali before, it can be hard to decide what to leave out of those bursting suitcases. Here's some advice, arrive with an (almost) empty suitcase.

Clothes
Bali is well known as a shopping mecca with bargains galore. For this reason, when packing for your Balinese holiday, the general advice given is to bring an almost empty suitcase and fill it as you shop. We recommend you bring a selection of light, casual clothing that you can easily layer. Natural fibres like cotton or linen are the most comfortable in Bali's humid climate. If you're planning on adventuring, bring some sturdy walking shoes. NO winter coats or fur boots to Bali! Its proximity to the equator (8 degrees) dictates its year round average temperature of 31 deg Celsius (mid-80s°F) and extreme humidity, especially from October to April, the Wet Season. The days from June to August are blessed with refreshing cool breezes. The central mountain areas such as Ubud offer cooler climes, and you may need light jackets (jumpers) and warm socks at night.

The Balinese generally dress modestly and it is seen as a mark of respect to do likewise while visiting their country. While casual clothes like shorts and strappy tops are perfectly acceptable about town, you will be expected to cover up with long pants and dresses when visiting any of Bali's numerous, lovely temples. Many temples provide the obligatory sarong and sash for visitors.

Health
Bring any medication you need regularly as pharmacies are not plentiful and it always easier to read and follow the labels on your own products. Don't forget to bring plenty of sunscreen, you don't want to begin your holiday with a sunburn from exposure to the strong equatorial sun. Some tropical strength insect repellent may also be a good idea, depending on where you will be on the island. At all costs, don't be tempted to bring any recreational drugs. Drug related offences carry the death penalty and there are already plenty of foreign "guests" residing in the Government Prison Service.

Travel Documents
Photocopy all of your travel documents and credit cards and store them separately from your wallet. If anything should happen to your original travel documents, having copies will make recovery or replacement much easier.

At Villa Getaways we pride ourselves on our service and attention to detail. We travel to Bali regularly so we can assist with all your travel questions. To make your stay as memorable as possible, our complimentary services include an escort to and from your Villa, welcome at arrival, housekeeping, maid service, concierge services, security. Additional services range from private Chef service, onsite Spa service, helicopter transfers and anything else you wish to have.

Our Bali villa rentals are located all over the island so you can choose whether you wish to be close to shopping, nightlife, or right on the beach. Please don't hesitate to contact us for more information or visit the website http://www.balivillagetaways.com/

HolidayTravelWatch has continued throughout this 2010 summer season to receive reports of many package holidaymakers falling ill in resort hotels. The organisation has received contact from many affected holidaymakers suffering with Cryptosporidium, Salmonella, Giardia & Shigella.

HolidayTravelWatch is appalled by the reports we have received from one group of so-called DIY holidaymakers; they have been formed into what is believed to be the first ever group action of so-called DIY holidaymakers – full details in our full press release!

The so-called 'DIY' or 'Dynamic' method of selling holidays apparently places the Consumer in the driving seat through the 'choice' offered by internet portals. These holiday sales methods appear to offer 'seamless' transactions backed by a complex range of terms and conditions.

Holidaymakers report that when they experience travel problems within these holiday products, the travel company they have purchased the holiday from will often cite their terms and conditions and refuse to accept any liability for failings in the holiday contract.

Frank Brehany, the Consumer Advocate for HolidayTravelWatch states:

'This story contains probably the most appalling set of holiday complaints we have received this season – how on earth can any travel provider simply point to their terms and conditions? This method of booking a holiday is creating the worst Consumer discrimination possible and creates a two-tier travel product!'

He continues:

'We have long advocated that there is no difference between the sale of a traditional package holiday and that of a so-called 'DIY' or 'Dynamically' packaged holiday! British Consumers are being led into contracts that apparently offer no protection should something go wrong – these sales are clear attempts to avoid responsibilities under the Package Travel Directive and UK Package Travel Regulations'.

He concludes:

'This group is the first group action of a so-called 'DIY' or 'Dynamically' packaged holiday; these holidaymakers are suffering real prejudice in Consumer Protection and we have helped them form into a group to challenge this injustice! We will lead the way for Consumers – this is the biggest challenge facing UK holidaymakers and Consumers since 1992! All so-called DIY holidaymakers who have suffered with similar problems should contact us without delay! The time has also come for the EU Commission, Westminster and the Travel Industry to act quickly to prevent this travesty against Consumers!'

New York, NY. (September 3, 2010) – Since its debut nearly a century ago, the Panama Canal has been considered one of the world's most important engineering marvels. This 51-mile passageway between oceans can save a ship more than 7,000 transit miles around South America, and never ceases to amaze cruise passengers. Princess Cruises' ships have long offered a front-row view of the Panama Canal, and in 2011-12 the line will offer 38 cruises to this signature destination, with five different itinerary options.

The Panama Canal's history adds to its status as a 'must see' destination. The single most expensive construction project in United States history at the time, 'big ditch' took more than 30 years to build at a cost of about $375 million. The Canal's lengthy history included construction efforts by two different nations and the creation of an independent Panama. In total, Canal construction involved as many as 80,000 workers and the excavation of around 268,000,000 cubic yards of earth.

Today the Canal offers passage to approximately 14,000 ships a year. Princess passengers sailing the Canal will enjoy the amenities of two vessels specifically built for Panama Canal cruising – Coral Princess and Island Princess. The sides of these ships just clear the massive locks that use an average of 52 million gallons of water in each chamber as they eventually lift and lower vessels a total of 170 feet as they pass from the Caribbean to the Pacific during the nine-hour transit.

'Their ships have been transiting the Panama Canal for more than 40 years and, in fact, we even christened Coral Princess as it moved through the Canal,' said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president. 'There really is no better way to watch the fascinating process as the ship transits each lock than from the decks of our ships – it's an exceptional way to experience this wonder of engineering.'

Princess' unique Two-day Canal Experience, available on many longer sailings, combines a full transit of the Canal, including the Miraflores, Pedro Miguel and Gatun Locks, with a second day in Panama at Fuerte Amador. This extra day gives travelers time to explore Panama further with excursions such as riding the Panama Canal Railway, exploring a rainforest, visiting an authentic Embera Indian village or touring bustling Panama City.
A complete line up of Princess Cruise deals can be found @ http://cruisedealership.com/discount-princess-cruises.asp

Beyond the Panama Canal, these itineraries offer calls in Caribbean Islands, Mexican Riviera resort towns, and a number of intriguing ports in Central America. In Costa Rica, passengers will discover a land of tropical rain forests, lush coffee plantations and white sand coastlines set against a backdrop of majestic mountains. In San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, this scenic fishing village offers beautiful white-sand beaches and ecological richness, while the nearby city of Granada is the oldest city in Central America.

Panama Canal itineraries include:

Panama Canal Two-Day Experience Cruises – Coral Princess and Island Princess will feature three itineraries offering Princess' Two-Day Canal Experience – a full Panama Canal transit combined with a full day at Fuerte Amador on the Pacific side of Panama. The 14-day itinerary sails between Ft. Lauderdale and Los Angeles with calls at Aruba, Cartagena, and Puntarenas (Costa Rica) in addition to the Two-Day Canal Experience. A 15-day option offers an additional call in Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala). And another 15-day option sails from San Francisco to Ft. Lauderdale with calls at Cabo San Lucas, Puntarenas (Costa Rica), Cartagena, and Aruba. Sailings on these itineraries depart between September 25, 2011 and April 27, 2012. Coral Princess and Island Princess also offer longer Grand Adventures of 17, 18 and 19 days, sailing to and from Vancouver.

Full Panama Canal Transit Sailings – A new 14-day itinerary between Los Angeles and Ft Lauderdale, offering a full Panama Canal transit plus visits to Cabo San Lucas, San Juan del Sur (Nicaragua), Puntarenas (Costa Rica), Cartagena and Aruba. Coral Princess offers four sailings on this route, with departures on October 25, November 8, 2011, February 28, and March 13, 2012.

Roundtrip Panama Canal Cruises – Island Princess will sail on this classic 10-day roundtrip itinerary from Ft. Lauderdale, which offers a partial Panama Canal transit to Gatun Lake followed by a call in Colon, plus calls in the Caribbean ports of Aruba, Cartagena, Limon (Costa Rica), and Grand Cayman or Ocho Rios. The ship offers 20 departures between October 10, 2011 and April 17, 2012.

Such deals are available only once in a while but they can prove to be a real bonanza for you. The best way to economize on cruise vacations is to either book very early because you might get sizable early bird discounts or to wait till the last moment and hope for cheap cruise deals to fall in your lap.

On such occasions they offer one way cruises only because they have to bring passengers from the other end.

Such a deal can work out very cheap, even if you have to pay for the return air fare. Fantastic cruise deals are also available during seasons when there is low demand.
