(New York, New York) - It is no surprise why more and more people are frustrated with their local healthcare systems. High costs and long waiting times are the things people in the United States, Canada and many other Western countries complain about when looking to have a medical procedure done. The global economic crisis has certainly left its mark by putting a strain on public health-care resources and on the wallets of those who rely on private health care plans.

Debson Medical Tourism (http://www.debsonmedicaltourism.com) addresses this need by providing people with more options for receiving their health and medical treatments out of the country. Medical tourism is a relatively young professional industry, but the practice of journeying thousands of miles to a destination where people can receive healing for their ailments dates back to ancient days, where huge health complexes were built around geothermal springs and pilgrims came in from thousands of miles for treatment.

Today, while travel is a lot faster it still is a major hassle. Compound that with the additional responsibilities of looking for the best foreign hospital for your specific procedure with state-of-the-art facilities and combine that with figuring out pre and post procedure care and you could say being a medical tourist is a lot of hard work. Debson Medical Tourism helps solve that problem.

As one of the few medical tourism agencies that have been certified by the Medical Tourism Association, the international organization that promotes and implements high standards in the practice of medical tourism, Debson Medical Tourism helps people get in touch with leading hospitals, clinics, and health spas all around the world to get surgeries and treatments for a vast array of medical conditions. The agency is only affiliated with healthcare facilities accredited by the Joint Commission International and offers complete medical tourism packages so customers are free from worrying about the myriad of little details about their trip and getting the medical procedure preformed.

One of the most valuable services offered by Debson Medical Tourism is telehealth, which involves pre and post-care telemedicine services where a foreign medical practitioner monitors the health of the patient via a collection of high-techn devices and telecommunication. This allows patients to save quite a bit of money on what could have been costly regular pre and post checkups with the local specialist. Debson's telehealth service also include a quick transfer of medical records to be studied by the attending practitioner abroad.

The most important benefit that people receive from Debson Medical Tourism is access to quality healthcare that does not burn a hole in their pants' pockets. In India, for example, a heart valve replacement surgery costs USD 12,000, compared to the USD 200,000 that U.S. doctors charge for the same procedure. Medical treatments in other countries are so cheap that, even with all other travel costs accounted, people still save thousands of dollars.

That is not to say, though, that quality is compromised, as many of the best doctors in foreign countries have been trained in Western universities and hospitals and national governments are investing millions in the improvement of their medical tourism industries. JCI considers the expertise of the healthcare facility's medical practitioners an influential criterion in assessing the performance of the facility. Other countries can afford to charge so low for their high-quality services because these expenses do not cover hospital insurance required by law in the U.S. If you are paying for treatment in the U.S., the bulk of your payments are most likely going to the insurance.

Debson Medical Tourism has more than 35 years experience in the medical industry. Aside from care management before, during, and after the procedure, the company also provides vacation and tourist services to help their clients enhance their experience in another country. The company headquarters are located in New York, New York and Montreal, Quebec.

Need access to high-quality medical care without spending a lot of money? Debson Medical Tourism helps connect people with the best destination, hospital, and doctor to perform the procedure, and they handle all the other details as well. Call Debson at 1-877-900-DEBS (3327) or send them an e-mail at info@debsonmedicaltourism.com for a FREE medical procedure quote and consultation.

The Integrative Healing Society is pleased to announce its third annual Chinese medicine tour in Hangzhou, China from Oct. 7 -23, 2010. The training program will allow foreign students from all over the world a chance to study their choice of acupressure, tuina, acupuncture, or Chinese herbs.

The Integrative Healing Society (IHS) has partnered with Zhejiang Chinese Medical University to allow therapists, doctors, and students a chance to study Chinese medicine in China. The two-week program will include 30 hours of clinical observation and 20 hours of lectures. Students attending the tour can elect to study Chinese massage and acupressure, Chinese herbs, or acupuncture. During the clinical portion of the training, participants will observe senior level doctors providing treatments to patients at university hospitals. 'In the acupuncture department it is not unusual for our students to see over 20 patients per hour,' said James Spears, the founder of IHS.

While the acupuncture clinic bustles with patients a slower pace can be found in the Chinese massage clinic. Here students will frequently observe up to 9 treatments over the course of 3 hours. In the massage clinic the treatments given are highly specific to the patients needs, and it is common to see advanced bodywork techniques being given for everything from shoulder tension, lumbar pain, orthopedic diseases, and even internal conditions.

In addition to the clinical portion of the training, afternoon lectures will be given on subjects such as acupressure for headaches, treating injuries of the muscles and tendons, and Chinese herbs for asthma. The lectures are a great supplement to clinical training because students get to hear from a variety of professors who are experts in their field. During the lectures students are taught specialized techniques, point and herb prescriptions, and how to treat diseases and develop treatment strategies.

Besides offering educational tours to China, IHS organizes trips to Thailand for students and professionals to study Thai massage and bodywork. Their next Thai massage tour will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand in May of 2011.

The Integrative Healing Society also works with massage schools in numerous countries to develop study abroad programs to Asia.

An estimated one million people are newly diagnosed with gallstones each year. Out of these patients diagnosed approximately 500,000 will undergo gallbladder removal surgeries (cholecystectomies). Gallbladder disease is caused by gallstones, or a poorly functioning gallbladder (biliary dyskinesia). If a person has gallstones, the stone can block the outflow of the gallbladder and cause it to become greatly inflamed and possibly rupture. In a poorly functioning gallbladder, it fails to contract well and many times a patient will have vague right upper quadrant pain and excessive belching especially after meals. Many times patients live with this condition for many years because their abdominal ultrasound fails to show any gallstones. It is not till your doctor orders a study called a HIDA scan that your poorly functioning gallbladder can be diagnosed. Gallstones or a poorly functioning gallbladder can cause right upper quadrant pain, nausea and vomiting and fever. These symptoms usually begin right after meals and sometimes resolve several hours later. If you exhibit these symptoms you should see your doctor immediately so he can order the appropriate tests. The earlier you diagnose gallbladder disease the greater chance you have to get your gallbladder removed laparoscopically.

Single incision (scarless) surgery is the latest technique in gallbladder removal. Single incision surgery is considered scarless because the incision is hidden in the navel and is rarely visible. The gallbladder dissection for removal is the same as the traditional way, but the ports are all placed through the navel. I have found that patients have the same pain as the traditional manner, but return to work the same time if not sooner. The best part is that friends or family members can rarely see the incision hidden in your navel. I performed the first single incision gallbladder removal surgery (cholecystectomy) at Gulf Coast Medical Center and Cape Coral Hospital in 2009 and have performed hundreds since that time. The response has been incredible from patients and their family members because the incision is not visible and their pain was minimal.

One of the greatest misconceptions of gallbladder surgery is that a patients diet will be limited after the surgery. This is not the case. A patient can slowly resume their normal diet within one to two days after surgery. You will not be able to lift heavy weight (greater than 40 lbs) till 3-4 weeks after surgery. If you have a desk job, many patients return in 7-10 days. A patient may have diarrhea after gallbladder surgery and this due to excessive bile acids in the digestive tract. Your body usually adjusts to the bile salts, but if you continue to have diarrhea several weeks after surgery Welchol or Questran has been proven effective. Please speak to your doctor before taking these medications.

Gallbladder surgery has evolved from a large foot long incision below your right rib cage to four small laparoscopic incisions to one incision hidden in your navel. It is incredible how quickly minimally invasive surgery has evolved. If you have gallbladder disease don't hesitate and please call today to schedule your appointment. Please see my webpage for photos of single incision laparoscopic (SILS) cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal).

Recent incidents in aviation including the crash killing the President of Poland and the security lapse that allowed a suspected terrorist to board a passenger jet in New York have intensified travelers anxiety, especially those who may already have been struggling with a fear of flying.

Faisal Shahzad, a suspect in the New York City Times Square bombing attempt was allowed to board an Emirates Airlines flight bound for Dubai, a potentially catastrophic oversight which deepens fears of travelers who are concerned about potential for terrorist attacks aboard airplanes.

Still under investigation, the crash of the Polish Air Force jet carrying the President of Poland, his wife, and other high ranking government officials on April 10, exacerbates individuals fear of flying who may think if a fatal accident can happen on the flight of a President, it can certainly happen to their flight!

Of course, even with the recent events being highly publicized, the statistical chance of being in an accident on a commercial airline flight are virtually nil. 'As much as this logically should alleviate fears, anyone with a flying phobia or fear can attest to the fact that their anxiety is not rooted in logic at all and statistics do little to comfort them during times of high anxiety aboard a flight.', states Rich Presta, an expert who works with individuals on overcoming their fear of flying and who runs the popular website http://www.FearofFlyingPhobia.com.

Media reports of aviation accidents are highly publicized because they are so rare and unusual, but when they do occur, the media's relentless focus on them gives the public a perception that they are far more common than they actually are.

As stated on Presta's fear of flying website, the key to treating flying anxiety is to focus on two primary areas. First, to understand and trust the physics behind flight and the people working in the aviation industry. Second, and the part which requires a more specialized and systematic approach, is learning how to respond to and control your own reaction of anxiety about flying and replace that negative and limiting behavior with more positive behavior of relaxation, confidence, and calm aboard a flight.

The website at www.FearofFlyingPhobia.com offers statistics, news, articles and resources for fearful fliers, as well as a complimentary report with answers to common questions about flying, weather, turbulence, safety, and more, developed in conjunction with airline personnel such as pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, mechanics, and more.

HolidayExtras.com knows how stressful it can be getting young children to eat healthily. And during family holidays, when holiday makers are far from the comforts of home, the hassles can multiply.

In a recent poll on family holiday eating, 46% of HolidayExtras.com's customers with children said that they don't let them eat any differently on holiday to normal. However, for 18% of those holidaying with little ones, ice creams are slurped more often than usual, and fast foods are more likely to be on the menu for 15%.

In other families, indulgences like sweets and chocolates (9%), chips (6%) and dessert (6%) are eaten more freely when away from home.

Happily, HolidayExtras.com offers a fantastic selection of quality hotels located conveniently close to 26 UK airports, serving up first class service and facilities.

And for those with fussy mouths to feed, Hilton hotels have recently teamed up with leading child nutrition expert, Annabel Karmel, to provide tasty, healthy meals for children up to the age of 10. Plus kids eat free at Hilton hotels when ordering with a paying adult.

Anthony Clarke Cowell, head of commercial at HolidayExtras.com, said: 'The results of this survey tell us that our customers expect home-style cooking and do not want to compromise their children's health whilst travelling. Old family favourites like fish pie and spaghetti with tomato sauce, using quality ingredients, along with treats like chocolate pudding or ice cream are sure to go down well at tea time. And that's one less thing for stressed parents to worry about.'

Annabel Karmel explains her philosophy: '…food is the one element you can control which can determine your child's future health. I aim to give children the best start in life through a healthy nutritious diet.'

The Annabel Karmel children's menu is available at all of the Hilton airport hotels offered by HolidayExtras.com, including Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Southampton, Edinburgh, Dublin and Belfast.

Once you've re-fuelled on healthy ingredients and family favourites, you'll be able to get a hassle-free start to your family holiday.

Top tips for avoiding tantrums at the holiday table:

* Pre-book an airport hotel with a dinner upgrade for a smooth start to the family getaway

* Self-catering holidays are more flexible for family eating

* Consider a specialist family-friendly holiday, where freshly-prepared, wholesome food is part of the package

* Try to balance eating out with meals made at a holiday home

* Take a few essentials your child can't live without, or even use a delivery service which will ship favourite brands to the holiday destination

* Allow some foods that are usually avoided- after all, you are on holiday

* On the health front, use bottled water and avoid: street stalls; any establishments where you doubt the standard of hygiene; unpasteurised milk or ice cream made from it.

* If staying in a non-English speaking country, take a phrase book containing menu and food translations

* And finally, relax, they'll survive a week or two without five a day. Enjoy a much more hassle-free holiday.
